Set up Instagram DM Auto-Replies in Gatsby

Step-by-Step instructions:

Step 1: Creating a DM Auto-Reply

1. Log into your Gatsby account or open the Gatsby app from Shopify

2. Hover over the home icon up top

3. Select Auto-Replies

4. Click "Create your first reply"

5. Enter the name for this reply template, the text you want sent in the DM reply, and the keyword(s) that will trigger this reply:

Note: You can copy that {{senderUsername}} variable and paste it into the text of your reply to populate your customer's handle in the reply.

In the above example, as soon as you receive a DM with the word "confirm" anywhere in the message, your Instagram account will send back your automated reply written above.

Step 2: Testing it

Once you've saved your template, you can easily test that everything is working by sending a DM to your company Instagram from any other Instagram profile you have access to. These DM auto-replies will work for every person who sends you that keyword.

Top Use-Cases For The Beta

1. Automatically Confirm Your Customers' Instagram Profiles

Just like with Email and SMS, its ideal to get the consumer to confirm they entered the correct email or phone number. With SMS it might be "text 'c' to confirm your number". With Gatsby, this is also true and we now have a way to confirm customer profiles automatically using DMs.

How to do this: As soon as a customer fills out your form to apply to your community or ambassador program, tell them to DM you the word "confirm".

And what's great is we'll pass this confirmation back to Klaviyo as well so you can enforce that only confirmed profiles can qualify for your rewards.

2. Automatically reply to inbound ambassador interest

 

For active brands with a growing customer base, you're likely experiencing inbound interest from ambassadors, influencers and customers, all wanting to get free stuff for posting on Instagram for you. This is great! But hard to filter out the winners at scale. That's where Gatsby comes in. Now with our new auto-reply feature, you can listen DMs that include words like "influencers" "collab" or "ambassador" and automatically reply to them with a link to your landing page or application form.

Once they fill out your form, that information will filter into Gatsby, Klaviyo etc and you'll be pre-screening them automatically for your community or ambassador program.
